
A first session with me is not an interrogation. It is two people at a table, working out whether the thing that keeps hijacking your week has a pattern, because it almost always does. I work with men whose irritability has started costing them things they actually care about. Much of that work turns out to be about masculinity, and the short list of feelings men were ever given permission to show. My approach is cognitive behavioral at its core: we find the beliefs driving the flare-ups and test them against reality. As a bipoc therapist, I know how much context shapes a man's anger, and I bring all of my own context into the room. I keep my caseload deliberately small so that nobody gets a diluted version of me. I know how rare it can be for men to say hard things to another man, and I try to make that feel ordinary here.
