There is a moment I see regularly: someone describes an ordinary evening in careful, neutral language and then stops, because they have just heard how it sounded. Nobody had to point anything out. Saying it aloud was sufficient. That is most of what the hour does. Raising children happens too fast to be examined while it is going on, and a lot of what is difficult about it has simply never been said out loud to anybody. We slow it down enough to look at it properly. What follows from that is usually obvious and much easier to act on than people expect. An entirely different field occupied my first working life, which means I did not grow up inside the language of this profession and I try not to hide behind it. Expect plain speech. If your evenings deserve a proper look, get in touch.
