I am a therapist for adults who have lost someone and are finding that the world expects them to be finished with it. Most of my clients are capable people who are managing everything except the one thing that actually matters to them. Grief is not a problem to be solved, and I am wary of anyone who treats it that way. What can change is how alone you are inside it, how much of it you are permitted to say, and whether you have somewhere to put the parts that would frighten your family. We work on that. Some weeks we talk about the person who died and some weeks we talk about your electricity bill, and both of those count as the work. I first came to therapy as a client during a loss of my own, which is the entire reason I do this. I know exactly what unhelpful sounds like. If you want an hour where nothing has to be tidy, reach out.
