The first conversation is spent mostly on how things stand now. I will ask what your weeks look like, what you have stopped doing, and how you sleep, and I will explain what the treatment involves before you are asked to commit to any of it. What I will not do is ask you to walk through anything. Flashbacks and difficult memories are not material for a first meeting, and any practitioner who treats them that way has misjudged the order of operations fairly badly. We build stability first. That is not caution for its own sake; it is what makes the later work possible. I returned to the room after a period in administration, and one thing I brought back was a respect for doing things in the right sequence. Sequence matters here more than pace. If you want to know the order before starting, get in touch.
