
Here is an honest admission to begin with: searching for a therapist while your head is already loud is a peculiarly difficult task. You are being asked to make a careful decision using the exact faculty that is currently not cooperating. So let me make this part simple. I work with adults whose worry has outgrown its usefulness and now runs on its own schedule regardless of circumstances. We look at what it is trying to prevent, we test whether the prevention is actually working, and we build a different relation to uncertainty. My training was in community mental health, where I met a very wide range of people and stopped believing anyone's difficulty was unusual. Yours will not surprise me.
