
I will say the quiet part for you: booking a first therapy session can feel like admitting defeat. It is the opposite, but almost nobody believes that until about week three. The men I work with mostly grew up believing anger was the one acceptable export for every other feeling. Explosive anger costs jobs, marriages, and Sunday dinners, and it is far more fixable than it feels from the inside. A lot of our work is reframing: same event, new lens, different Tuesday. Care work runs in my family, and I never seriously considered doing anything else with my life. You will get no sugarcoating here, but you will never get shame either; the two are not a package deal. I know how strange it can feel to say tender things to another man, so we build up to it. Bring your worst story whenever you are ready; I have heard worse, and I stayed.
