There is a particular quiet that settles over the room when someone finally stops apologizing for how they feel and just lets the sentence land. I have come to see that quiet as the moment the real work starts. Most of what I do centers on depression, and on the specific heaviness that makes small tasks feel enormous and enjoyable things feel pointless. We do not rush to fix that heaviness before we understand it. Instead we get curious about when it lifts even slightly, what it costs you, and which parts of your life it has quietly rearranged. I came to this profession later than most, after years in an entirely different field, which means I know something about beginning again and about work that drains rather than feeds a person. I am encouraging without pretending, and I will not hand you slogans. What I offer is steady attention and the sense that your situation, however stuck it feels, is workable. If you have read this far, some part of you is already considering it, and that part is worth trusting. Reach out when you like.
