The frank version is this: making this appointment is really harder than making most others, and a substantial proportion of people book, cancel, and rebook before they arrive. If that has been you, it is not a bad sign and I will not remark on it. The reluctance makes complete sense. Trauma work has a reputation for being gruelling, some of which is deserved and much of which comes from approaches that were more forceful than they ever needed to be. What I do is paced, predictable, and entirely under your control, and you can stop any part of it at any point without explaining yourself to me. I qualified while working in community mental health, where I met many people who had tried once, found it too much, and never returned. That is avoidable. If you have started and stopped before, that history is useful rather than disqualifying.
