
Here is the honest part first: starting therapy is awkward. You are expected to tell a stranger things you barely admit to yourself, and somehow that is supposed to help. It does, but the first step is real work, and I respect everyone who takes it. I trained in community mental health, where I met people carrying enormous loads with almost no support, and the experience left me stubbornly hopeful. Now I help adults who live perpetually on edge discover what their days feel like once the internal alarm finally quiets. As a gay man, I want my practice to be a soft landing for gender diverse clients. I am Jewish, and I bring that tradition's love of wrestling honestly with hard questions.
