The myth I would most like to retire is that you need to know where you are going before you are allowed to work on getting there. People postpone starting until they have a plan, which is exactly backwards, because the plan is usually what the work produces. You can begin without a destination. What the next season looks like tends to emerge from doing the thinking rather than preceding it. Insisting on clarity as an entry requirement keeps a lot of people stuck at the beginning indefinitely. We start from where you actually are, which is generally somewhere uncertain, and that is a perfectly workable place to begin. Group settings came before my own practice, and I watched a great many people arrive with no idea what they wanted and leave with a very clear one. It works in that order. If you are waiting for clarity first, you can stop waiting.
