
There is a myth that therapy means lying on a couch while someone nods for years. I would like to retire it. Good therapy is a working conversation, and you should leave most sessions with something worth chewing on. My specialty is adult distractibility and the pileup it creates: unopened mail, half-finished everything, and a quiet habit of self-blame. I use CBT because it gives us something concrete to do with all of that, not just something to discuss. I'm nonbinary, and I name that here because finding a therapist you do not have to explain yourself to matters. My early years in community mental health taught me to respect what people are up against long before they ever reach my door. Fair notice: I do swear sometimes, and you are welcome to join me.
