When do I get to stop explaining this to people? That question comes up more than you might expect, usually from someone worn out by having to narrate their own change at every social occasion for six months. It is a real cost and nobody warns you about it. A new chapter obliges you to become the spokesperson for your own life, repeating a summary to everyone who asks, and the repetition is tiring in a way that has nothing to do with the change itself. We can work on what you actually owe people, which is generally rather less than you have been supplying. I came to this from a wholly different line of work and spent about a year explaining that decision to everyone I met. If you are tired of narrating yourself, get in touch. You owe people far less narration than you have been providing.
