
Therapy works when it is honest, specific, and slightly uncomfortable, in that order. Comfortable conversations rarely change anyone's life. Anger management is my lane, and I am unapologetically practical about it. CBT gives us the machinery: identify the trigger, catch the interpretation, and choose differently while the moment is still yours. We will also talk about masculinity, because most men inherited an operating manual with one page in it. I am Jewish, and the tradition I grew up in prized a good argument, which may explain how comfortable I am with clients who push hard. I spent a stretch running programs from behind a desk, and coming back to clinical work reminded me exactly why I started. I hold the room like a peer, not a referee.
