Our first meeting is mostly inventory. I will ask what changed, what else changed around the same time, what has stopped happening since, and what you have quietly given up without particularly deciding to. It is a practical hour rather than an emotional one. That order tends to work better. Major life changes are easier to discuss once their actual extent is on paper, and most people have never listed the whole thing in one place. We do that first. By the end of the hour there is usually a clearer picture than the person has had in months, which is itself a real relief. I have found that people arrive wanting to talk about how they feel and leave more helped by having seen the full list. Both matter, and the list comes first. If you want an hour that produces something concrete, get in touch.
