There is a particular moment I wait for: someone pauses mid-sentence, hears what they just said, and realizes the rule they have obeyed for years was never actually theirs. That pause is where change begins. Overthinking is usually the first thing new clients name. The obsessions underneath, the ones that feel too strange or too dark to admit, tend to take a few more sessions to say out loud. When they do, we treat them for what they are: mental events, not prophecies. Before we go anywhere, we agree on a clear plan together, so therapy never feels like wandering. My work is values-based, anchored in the question of what kind of life you would build if fear were not the architect. I hear from many women who waited years to talk about this, and from plenty of men too. I spent years in hospital and intensive outpatient programs before opening a private practice, so very little surprises me anymore. Expect a conversational tone and a therapist who really enjoys this work. When you are ready, tell me what your mind has been up to.
