The biggest misconception I run into is that a grief specialist exists to help you get over it and move on. That is not my job, and I would not know how to do it. Nobody gets over the people who shaped them, and I would never ask you to try. What I offer instead is steady footing while the loss reorganizes everything. Bereavement touches far more than the obvious ache; it can scramble your sleep, your appetite, and your sense of who you are without this person here. We take it piece by piece. We honor the bond you still have with someone who died, because it does not simply end when the heartbeat does. I was raised among people who cared for the dying, so death has never been a stranger to me and it does not need to be dressed up in careful language. I stay steady on the days you cannot. When you are ready to be honest with someone who will not look away, I am here, and there is no wrong time to begin.
