Sessions with me tend to balance structure and exploration. Some weeks we'll work on something concrete; other weeks we'll sit with what's surfacing and see what wants attention. For people who are recently widowed, or who are carrying a more recent loss, therapy can be a space where the grief gets to be exactly as big as it is. There's no timeline I'm going to impose on that. If you're walking in feeling overwhelmed, feeling exhausted, or feeling tired in a way that sleep doesn't fix, you're not alone. A lot of what we'll do is figure out what's actually yours to carry and what isn't, and slowly let the rest go. Many of my clients describe feeling lonely, feeling alone, or feeling isolated even when they're surrounded by people. Therapy can be one of the first places where being fully seen becomes possible, and that often loosens something on its own.
