
Here is my plain belief about this work: therapy helps when it stops being abstract and starts changing what actually happens on a Wednesday. Insight is nice, but I care more about whether your week gets more livable. I spend most of my time treating depression, the kind that can make getting out of bed feel like the hardest negotiation of the day. I do not think talking about it endlessly is the point. We figure out, in specific terms, what is dragging on you and what small moves really help, then we do more of what helps. For a while I stepped away from seeing clients to run a department, and returning to direct practice reminded me that this, the ordinary work of sitting with one person, is what I am actually for. I speak plainly and I do not perform expertise. You will get honest reactions, real questions, and a partner who keeps the work moving without rushing you.
