My whole practice is built around one particular season of life, the stretch after someone you love has died and the rest of the world has gone back to normal. I work with adults who are done being told they are strong and would rather be told they are allowed to fall apart. Bereavement is less a single feeling than a whole weather system, and it can shift from numb to furious to unexpectedly fine within one afternoon. My job is to make all of that survivable and, eventually, understandable. We move at a pace that respects how tired you already are. Nothing is too ugly, too petty, or too tangled to say aloud in this hour. I started out in school and university counseling, where I learned to sit with people through the first shock of a loss and stay calm while they could not. That steadiness is still the core of what I offer. There is no version of your grief that will be too much for me. When you would like company for it, I am here.
