The longest lesson of my working life is also the simplest: most of us are not broken, just unpracticed at handling what we feel. Practice, it turns out, can be built. My first counseling chair was on a university campus, where I met brilliant people undone by things no syllabus covered. Since then I have specialized in mood episodes, and in the heaviness that settles over a life and refuses to give its name. My sessions are structured; thoughtful does not have to mean meandering. Emotion regulation runs through all of it, built up in small weekly increments until it becomes reflex. We also pay close attention to what is already working, because strengths are worth studying too. I am enby, and I bring my whole self to this work so that you can bring yours. Expect careful questions, real pauses, and no rush toward tidy answers. If depth at a steady pace appeals to you, I would welcome the conversation.
