Let me be plain about it: a good number of people find it harder to ask for help with an ordinary difficulty than with a dramatic one. There is a sense that you need a proper catastrophe to earn the chair, and that ordinary upheaval ought to be managed privately. That belief costs people years. Major life changes are among the most common reasons anybody sees a therapist, and they are also among the most responsive to a relatively short piece of work. You do not need a crisis to qualify. Arriving early is generally the difference between a few months of work and a much longer stretch later on. Crisis services is where I learned to stay steady, which means I have seen what happens when ordinary difficulties are left until they become emergencies. I would much rather see you first. If you have been waiting to qualify, you already do.
