First sessions with me move quickly and without ceremony: less intake form, more honest talk about what a day with food actually looks like for you. You will not be handed a meal plan and sent off. A good number of the adults I see are living with anorexia and the fears that cluster around it, including plenty who are certain they do not look the part. We take that fear seriously and start returning the pieces of life that grew smaller and smaller as the rules multiplied. I first met this work from the client's side of the room, which is a big reason I trust that people really come back from this. There is real optimism in how I practice, not the cheerful sort that pretends this is easy, but the kind that has watched person after person recover and expects it.
