People generally contact me when the strategies stop scaling. For years it is possible to manage with avoidance, early nights, careful planning, and a lot of quiet effort, and then a change in circumstances makes the whole arrangement unaffordable. That collapse is the common entry point. PTSD tends to be managed privately and quite skillfully for a long time before anybody seeks treatment, which is why so many people arrive competent, articulate, and completely worn through. We start by acknowledging how much work has already been done. It has usually been a lot of work and almost entirely unrecognized by anybody. I supervise others coming into the profession, and the thing I most often point out is that a person arriving late has not been passive; they have been managing something alone for years. If your strategies have stopped scaling, get in touch. Arriving late is not the same as arriving passive.
