Inviting a stranger into your private life takes nerve, and inviting one into your marriage takes even more. I do not take that lightly, and I can promise the first hour is easier than the doorway. Couples usually arrive carrying one conversation they have been avoiding for years, and much of my job is making that conversation survivable, then useful. For a long time I practiced within a group of colleagues before setting out on my own, and their voices still keep my work honest. In my sessions nobody gets ambushed and nobody gets ganged up on; hard topics get handled at a humane pace, with both of you still standing afterward. I stay even when things heat up, which is a large part of what you would be hiring.
