The most useful thing I can tell you is simple: you do not have to know what you want before you come in. Almost everybody arrives apologizing for not having a clear question, as though clarity were the entrance requirement rather than the destination. Standing at a crossroads without knowing which way you are facing is an entirely reasonable state to be in, and it is exactly the point at which an outside perspective is most useful. We spend the early sessions working out what is actually being decided, which is often not the question you thought you were asking. Once the real question is visible, the answer is often much closer than it appeared. I practiced in group settings for a long time before working alone, and the recurring lesson was how often people had the wrong question and therefore could not find an answer. If you cannot name what you want, come anyway.
