
I will start with what most people are never told: you are not too much. Whatever the intensity of what you bring, it will not rattle me, and it does not make you less deserving of help. I cut my teeth in crisis work, which is where I learned to stay level when everything else is not. These days I see adults dealing with punishing mood swings and with seasons that have gone joyless and gray. DBT anchors my approach; its skills were built for exactly these situations, and they work when conditions are ugly. Together we draw up a roadmap early on and keep it visible, so the work never drifts into vague conversation. I keep it plain: no jargon, no mystique, just steady effort done honestly.
