I will be honest about one thing: I cannot make this hurt less, and anybody who implies otherwise is overselling what therapy actually does. What I can do is make it less lonely, less confusing, and a lot less likely to turn into something that follows you around for a decade. That is a real offer even if it is a modest one. Grieving alone is much harder than grieving in company, and a lot of what makes it unbearable is the sense that nobody wants to hear about it any more. In here someone does. That is most of the treatment, and it is more effective than it sounds when written down like that. I was in group settings for a long time first, where the relief on people's faces when someone else said the unsayable thing was the most reliable event in the room. If you have run out of people who want to hear it, get in touch.
