There's a stubborn myth that therapy means lying on a couch while someone nods and scribbles. The real thing looks more like two people at a table doing serious work, sleeves rolled up. I trained in community mental health, where I sat with survivors of nearly every kind of hardship and learned that healing rarely follows a script. Sobriety, for many of my clients, isn't the finish line; it's the starting point where the real questions finally get asked. I work with active duty clients as well as people long out of uniform, and I'm comfortable in the gray areas where most change actually happens. I'm also glad to hold sessions in French. I've noticed how rarely men get asked how they're truly doing, so in my practice that question is the whole point. Expect patience and an honest read when you want one. If this sounds like a fit, I'd be glad to hear from you.
