Here is something worth saying plainly: a lot of people have had a bad experience of therapy in this area and are understandably reluctant to try again. Being asked to describe something in detail before you were ready, or being met with visible alarm, does lasting damage and it is more common than the profession likes to admit. If that happened to you, it was not treatment. Trauma work has changed a lot, and the approaches that produced those experiences are no longer what a competent practitioner does. We would go at a pace you set, and I would tell you in advance what each stage involves. You can also ask me directly how I work before committing to anything at all. My beginnings were in crisis services, where I saw the consequences of well-meaning people asking too much too soon. I have been careful ever since. If a previous attempt went badly, that is a reason to choose carefully rather than to stop.
