
I believe therapy works when it is specific. Vague encouragement never helped anyone manage bipolar disorder, and it will not help you either. I spent a stretch of my working life in administration before coming back to the room, and the return clarified what I value: clear methods, honest conversation, measurable change. My sessions are structured, which means we set an agenda, notice what helps, and adjust what does not. Distress tolerance is one of the first capacities we build, because you need ways to get through the worst hours before anything else can improve. For clients whose depression has made getting out of bed the hardest task of the day, we start exactly there, with small wins that hold. I will be honest with you and expect the same in return.
