Starting therapy for something as private as eating asks a lot of a person, and I do not take for granted how hard it is to even read this far. Most of the adults I see arrive with a body image that has hardened into a set of harsh, private verdicts they would never say aloud to anyone else. We loosen those verdicts slowly and learn to look at food without the courtroom. None of this is about willpower; it is about untangling what eating has come to stand in for. For years I practiced alongside other clinicians in group settings, which showed me how much lighter this gets the moment it stops being a secret. There is no version of your story that will make me back away. We move at a pace that stays survivable, and the small changes count more than the dramatic ones. When you are ready, even if ready still feels far off, send a message.
