Here is the honest part: describing a death to a stranger is a strange and effortful thing to do, and you may find you cannot get through it the first time without stopping. That is completely fine. There is no requirement to be articulate in here. Grieving people are often startled by how physical it is, and by how much it interferes with sleep, appetite, and memory. Very little of it resembles what films had led them to expect. We deal with the practical wreckage as well as the feeling, and sometimes the most useful hour is about how to get through a birthday or how to answer a well-meaning question at work. Crisis services is where I came up, which permanently removed my nervousness about difficult material. You cannot say anything here that will alarm me. If you want to start badly and improve from there, that is a perfectly good plan.
