
I work with adults who are stretched thin across too many obligations and have stopped being able to tell which ones are actually theirs. Most are the reliable person in several different systems at once. You would not know it to look at them. Our work is partly practical and partly a slow renegotiation of what you owe people. We look at where your hours actually go, where the guilt is doing the scheduling, and what happens if you disappoint someone on purpose. We also name the things you have been doing that nobody has ever thanked you for or even registered. That last experiment is usually the turning point. I keep my practice small so that I am not doing to myself exactly what my clients are doing to themselves. It seemed dishonest otherwise. It often takes a few weeks before the hour stops feeling indulgent. If you would like one that belongs entirely to you, and nothing about it has to be productive, reach out.
