
I work with adults whose plates have been overloaded for so long that the overload has started to feel like a personality trait. It is not one. It is a situation, and situations can be altered. Most of what we do is unglamorous and effective: sorting what is really urgent from what merely arrives loudly, and rebuilding some margin into weeks that have not had any for years. We look honestly at which commitments are actually yours and which ones simply turned up and were never questioned. I am interested in what gets lighter, not in helping you tolerate an unreasonable load more gracefully. The aim is fewer things, not better management of the same number. I began in a university counseling setting, where I met a lot of people convinced that everyone else was coping better than they were. Nearly none of them were.
