A moment I watch for: someone mentions they did the dishes on Tuesday, then waves it off as nothing much. I stop them there, every single time. That is not nothing. The heaviness people describe is not laziness and it is not a mood you can decide your way out of, and the first real evidence of it lifting usually looks about that small. We keep track of those moments deliberately, because the person living inside it is always the last one to notice them. Part of my job early on is being the witness you cannot yet be for yourself. I spend part of my week supporting clinicians who are newer to the work, and the thing I point out most often is exactly this. Notice the dishes. It applies to me as much as to them. If you cannot tell whether anything has shifted lately, come in and we will work it out together.
