
I work with adults whose anxiety looks like competence from the outside. They hit their deadlines, answer their messages on time, and then lie awake running the whole day back in order. If that is you, this is not about lowering your standards. It is about finding out what the constant scanning costs you and whether it buys you anything at all. Usually it does not. We slow things down enough to separate the vigilance that is actually useful from the kind that just runs in the background draining you all day. Telling those two apart is most of the job, and it is a skill rather than a personality trait. My practice grew slowly, one person telling another, which suits me. It has meant never having to advertise a tidier version of this work than the real one. Progress here is uneven and it is real. If you have been managing this by yourself for years, you do not have to keep doing that.
