People generally reach out at the point where the novelty has worn off and the difficulty has not. The first few weeks of anything new carry their own momentum; it is somewhere around the third month that the reality becomes clear and the support has quietly evaporated. That timing is worth naming. A new chapter gets a lot of attention at the start and almost none in the middle, which is exactly backwards, because the middle is where people actually struggle. We work in the middle. There is nothing wrong with you for finding month three harder than week one. I spent my first working life in a completely different field, and I remember exactly how long it took before I felt competent again. It was a lot longer than I had expected. If the novelty has worn off, get in touch. Month three is the part that nobody warns you about.
