I am a therapist for adults in the middle of something significant who have found that competence is not carrying them as far as it usually does. Most of my clients have handled harder logistics with less difficulty and cannot account for why this one is different. There is usually an account. Major life changes vary enormously in their impact depending on what else they disturb. The ones that touch your sense of who you are always cost more than the ones that merely alter your circumstances. We work out which sort this is. That alone often explains the difficulty. My caseload is deliberately small, which means I can hold your particular circumstances in mind from one week to the next. If competence has stopped carrying you, get in touch. Knowing which sort it is explains most of the difficulty. Naming the sort it is tends to settle the question quickly.
