Starting therapy is awkward, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. You have to say true things to a stranger and trust the process before you have any proof, and I respect enormously that you are considering it anyway. Nonprofit work was my proving ground, years of it, mostly alongside people the systems had worn down, and it shaped how I work: patiently, honestly, and without pretense. Today I mostly see adults who are utterly depleted, the givers whose own tank nobody thinks to check. Many also name a heaviness that has moved in and unpacked, making ordinary days feel uphill. I am a Jewish therapist, and my heritage informs the value I place on questions, community, and repair. You can count on me to be validating before anything else, because nobody grows in a room where they feel judged. Grounding exercises help us end sessions settled rather than stirred up. I have seen how rarely men get rooms like this one, and I am glad you found your way here. Bring your doubts along; they are welcome too.
