
There is a myth that therapy is only for people in crisis, and I would like to retire it. Therapy works best before the wheels come off, while you are still standing but running on empty. I began in crisis services, where I learned to be the steady one in the room no matter what came through the door. Much of my practice now is devoted to adults who have been quietly depressed for months and kept performing anyway. I am bilingual, and I have seen how much shifts when someone can finally do this work in the language their feelings actually speak. Hablo español y me alegrará recibirle en su idioma. My manner is gentle by conviction rather than by default; softness is a strategy, and it works. We often use meditation to help a busy mind settle enough to hear itself.
